DESCRIPTION

The WW Health and Safety Strategy & Innovation team is responsible for strategy development and execution related to managing our greatest Health & Safety risks. We need to Think Big and Innovate across the globe collaborating with Amazon businesses, geographical regions and technical subject matter experts (SMEs). We are expanding our team and looking for a talented safety engineer. This role requires significant development and implementation of safety design standards associated with equipment used within our Operations, developing feasible solutions to reduce risk, researching various safety risk topics including advances in controls. keeping up to date with the latest in scientific published research, deep diving into injuries to ensure root-cause has been appropriately identified, data analytics and document technical writing. The successful candidate must be a self-starter, detail-oriented, effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing (English proficiency is a must along with your ability to analyze data and drive results!). This will be a corporate role develop and support across the globe to enable our field EHS teams. This will be an office based corporate role.
· Interpret regulatory codes, safety standards, training and procedures. Develop safety engineering design specifications.
· Oversee change management requests to determine if there are any WW implications that need to be considered.
· Deep dive into incident and near miss data to drive insights into control effectiveness and inputs into future programs/projects.
· Review Safety Alerts and determine if there are any WW implications that need to be considered.
· Manage SIM requests from EHS field or other groups.
· Advise safety, engineering and operations teams on Amazon Safety Standards, other safety regulations and regulatory compliance concerns relating to process and equipment design.
· Perform safety risk assessments and regulatory compliance reviews on equipment and operations processes.
· Work with various teams to review new and modified equipment and provide direction on WW Safety Standards.
· Develop or maintain tools and processes to support the implementation of WW Safety Standards.
· Support maintaining all regulatory compliance documentation from a global perspective to ensure accurate and up to date adherence to set standards.
· Have a knowledge and understanding of certification bodies for approvals and CE marking and manage projects related to certifications that comply with local, national and international regulations.
· Working knowledge of integrating new systems into new and existing work environments.
· Knowledge of EU Machinery Directive, ISO, OSHA, EPA, DOT, FDA, NFPA, ANSI and other major consensus standards

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

T
· 5+ years experience in health and safety, with at least 2+ years' direct experience in Safety Engineering.
· Bachelor's degree in engineering, safety or a related field.Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
· Experience interacting with cross functional teams.
· Willingness to be flexible regarding shifts.
· Knowledge of CE directives and OSHA regulations.
· Comprehension and practical application of risk assessments.
· Proficiency with Microsoft office.
· Working knowledge of: ISO, OSHA, CFR, ANSI, etc.
