Software Development Engineer - Alexa NLU Machine Learning

At the Alexa Natural Language Understanding (NLU) team, we are responsible for forefront research and development in all aspects of human language technology.
We are a team of world-class scientists and engineers that use many real-world data sources to build highly scalable machine learning solutions at massive scale.
Our mission is to create a delightful experience for Alexa users by making Alexa understand any spoken request quickly and accurately.

As a Software Development Engineer on our team, you will design and build software components and 'end to end' systems that let Alexa learn from data more quickly. You will collaborate closely with experts in machine learning and human language technology and contribute to advancing the “state of the art” in human language understanding systems.

Some of your responsibilities will include;
· Design, development and maintenance of key system features
· Working in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software in rapid increments
· Refactoring existing software, establishing architectural principles and selecting design patterns.
· Optimizing processes to run efficiently on large-scale computing resources.
· Working with software engineers and scientist to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or related technical field
· 3+ years of hands-on professional software development experience
· Excellent programming skills in at least one modern programming language
· Proficiency using Object Oriented Design and common design pattern
· Strong knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures and problem solving)
· Working proficiency in English
