Role Summary/Purpose

The Digital Workplace QA Engineer will be responsible for working with the DW Solutions team to drive the quality assurance of key enabling tools that allow employees to self-serve across their technologies. They will be part of a broader software engineering community, working on various platforms and ecosystems to improve the overall experience and ensure timely deliver additional capability across existing tools to our end user community.
Essential Responsibilities

The projects they will be working on will be globally impactful, touching every employee across GE.

In this role you will:

·  Be responsible for testing a broader set of features across the platform, playing a key role in the overall software delivery process

·  Responsible for writing automated unit and regression testing for both front and back end apps

·  Become a subject matter expert in all applications across the domain

·  Break down problems and estimates time for quality related tasks

·  Demonstrate increasing expertise in application domain and functional areas

·  Apply various testing types and methodologies effectively during SDLC

·  Focus on automating the testing lifecycle by applying platform and tool knowledge

·  Take ownership of tasks and deliver without supervision while using their discretion to seek help when necessary

·  Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring, and Testing Techniques

·  Work independently and delivers testing and use case creation which meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project

·  Write effective tests according to best practices so that crucial functional requirements are verified, and tests remain valid when code is refactored

·  Collaborate with development team in bugs fixing and build plans

·  Collaborate with Quality Leaders in creating test plans

·  Implement and configures testing tools and support junior staff

·  Implement system-level integration testing

·  Be skilled in core data structures and algorithms

·  Define quality metrics, best practices and coding patterns, and provides deep expertise on the coding

·  Write and maintain both process and technical documentation

·  Effectively document bugs to help engineers identify the issue quickly

·  Collaborate with PMs and Software Engineers to create tests plans and transform them into automated unit and regression tests
Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

·  A minimum of 2 years of experience in software engineering, testing, or quality assurance

Eligibility Requirements:

·  Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job

·  Must be willing to work out of an office located in Miami, FL
Desired Characteristics

Technical Expertise:

·  Proven understanding of various testing techniques

·  Proven understanding of how to effectively automated testing where possible

·  Strong attention to input validation testing on client and server side and how this applies to application security

·  Good awareness of core computer science fundamentals (such as data structures, memory management, object-oriented programming, algorithms & Big-O notation)

·  Good awareness of JavaScript, including but not limited to ES6 features, DOM manipulation/optimization, event loops etc.

·  Appreciation of integrating RESTful APIs into web applications

·  Understanding of JSON and XML payload structures

·  Understand of web/mobile application deployment to Cloud infrastructure, and appetite to learn how to optimize deployment (bundling, minifying etc.)

·  Solid understanding of CSS (experience with CSS preprocessors is a plus [Ex: SCSS, LESS, Stylus])

·  Working knowledge of configuration management (using SVN, GitHub or similar) is desired

·  Familiarity with writing tests (or frameworks used for that) for REACT, AngularJS, NodeJS, and .NET is a plus

·  Have a solid understanding of the underlying Cloud infrastructure needed to run a large distributed web application
