DESCRIPTION

The Elastic Block Store group within Amazon Web Services is looking for a Linux Support Engineer who will help us deliver the next generation of industry leading storage service architected for the cloud. If selected, you will be a part of a team that architects, designs, and implements highly scalable distributed storage systems that provide availability, reliability and performance guarantees. As a member of the Server Platform team within EBS, you will get an opportunity to:
· Monitor the health of the fleet, automating system health, maintenance tasks, and reporting systems as needed
· Perform system maintenance tasks (your hands get dirty here), including configuration of new machines
· Develop or improve existing application and system management tools and processes that reduce manual efforts and increase overall efficiency
· Manage directly assigned tasks and on-call duties gracefully

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· BA/BS in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
· Minimum of 2 years of experience focused on Unix/Linux.
· Minimum of 2 years experience using the typical Unix/Linux toolbox of open source software and management tools.
· Demonstrated proficiency scripting with shell, Perl, Python, or Ruby.

*This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. citizen and must currently possess and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance.
