OBJECTIVE OF THE MISSION :
Alstom has an opening for a VIE focused on Operations Logistics. The Operations team manages a multi-million dollar inbound / outbound shipping budget and is need of a VIE to analyze the execution to this budget. This role interfaces with many functions across the internal organization, in addition to communicating with Freight service providers. The successful VIE will use data to clearly identify how the budget is being spent and the greatest opportunities for spend reduction.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Analyze inbound / outbound shipping cost reports. Walk process with Warehouse and Freight service provider personal as necessary to ensure all data is clearly understood
- Identify the highest cost charges, perform trend analysis to determine opportunities to reduce or reclassify
- Work with Materials team to analyze the effect of lot sizing on inbound shipping cost and suggest possible improvements
- Review possibility for consolidation of shipments from specific regions
- Identify uses of premium transportation, suggest whether premium is truly necessary, and propose approval process, if necessary
- Report findings and trends during monthly Operations KPI review with executive leadership
- Assess the need for improving reporting (timing, data, audience) and work with Business Intelligence team to suggest enhancements
- Assess need for improved Freight service to the Operational sites and convey feedback to Indirect Sourcing team
CANDIDATE'S PROFILE :
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college
- Skilled in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
- Technical degree and strong analytical thinking skills
- Strong business acumen
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Prior project management experience and demonstrated project management skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
