JOB PURPOSE/ROLE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Architecture owner for the CAT Risk Services department in Allianz Technology
Conception and evolution of solutions in the area of Catastrophe Risk Modelling, Geographical Information System (GIS), Financial Modelling and Analytics
Shape and translate business and IT strategies needs into realisable, sustainable technology solutions
Understand the requirements by identifying the stakeholders, helping to analyse the requirements and extract those of architectural significance
Formulate the design by creating a solution structure which will meet the various requirements, balancing the goals and constraints on the solution
Work closely with Allianz Enterprise Architects to ensure that our team leverages enterprise assets and Allianz Group strategies appropriately
Communicate the architecture by making sure that every audience understands it
Participate in cross-functional, cross-discipline architecture teams to enhance / set the architectural direction for key business initiatives
Provide technical recommendations and trade-offs to address business needs and timelines
Verify the solution specification making sure that the architected solution is properly specified in the form of backlog items and low level design
Verify the implementation, ensuring the delivered system is consistent with the agreed architecture, and will meet the requirements
Transition architectural skills to the team thru mentoring, pairing (for example in verifying architectural spikes) and running training sessions
Develop standards (eg coding, security, database), patterns, best practices for reuse and acceleration and mentor the team members in the application
Unblock architectural decision deadlocks
KEY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's or Master degree in IT/Software Engineering or related
Minimum 5-8 years experience in similar role
Understanding of large analytical environments, with many stakeholders, users, different (conflicting) sets of requirements, technology stacks
Understanding and experience with web services, APIs and micro-services design and architecture
Need knowledge and experience with the latest data technologies and frameworks such as Hadoop, MapReduce, Pig, Hive, HBase, Oozie, Flume, ZooKeeper, MongoDB, NoSQL, Cassandra and Oracle.
Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience designing, building and implementing Big Data solutions in a Hadoop ecosystem
Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in designing, building and implementing analytical environments and business intelligence solutions
Experience in designing software-as-a-service applications (eg. the Twelve Factor App methodology)
Ability to create pragmatic, strategic technology alternatives which deliver short-term results while contributing to long-term strategic direction
Experience in programming languages and latest technologies such as : Java, Spark, Scala, Python, Elastic, all types of Javascript frameworks, HTML5, CSS, RESTful Services, Linux, Hive, Kafka, Redis Cloudera etc.
Knowledge of cloud computing and experience working with various cloud environments
Understanding of relational databases, data modeling techniques
Agile and scrum methodologies is a must to know for this job
Effective negotiation and team facilitation skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes
Excellent command of English oral and written

Preferred but not mandatory
Solid understanding of Insurance/Re-insurance industry domain and application
Ideally iSAQB CPSA certification or equivalent
SCRUM certification
Practical experience with ITSM, ITIL
Knowledge of Solutions in the area of Catastrophe Risk Management: RMS, AIR, ESRI
