Duration: 6 months

Tasks

The Business Division 'Optical Instruments' of Airbus Defence and Space is Europe's largest manufacturer of Optical Instruments for applications in space. Our portfolio covers imaging spectrometers, LIDARs, meteorological imagers, and high resolution cameras. In our technology development team, we prepare the next generation of Optical Instruments in Space. For these activities, we are looking for a dynamic and proactive student, who is willing to work on the challenges of new technologies for space applications. We offer a master thesis in our team, where you will work together with

experts and other students to support experimental and analysis activities in the optical technology domain. Objective of the thesis is to establish an understanding and a end-to-end performance prediction of an optical space telescope for scientific missions.

Skills

The following professional skills and assets are relevant for this position:

·  You have a Master degree in Physics, with focus on optics or comparable engineering  studies
·  You have a general knowledge about optical instruments and complex optical systems
·  You have knowledge of industrial processes in combination with experience at Airbus is an asset
·  You have experience in data analysis and very good knowledge of software such as Matlab, Python, and C++
·  You are enthusiastic about new space technologies and instruments and have the capability to work independently
·  You are a good team player and have excellent communication skills
·  You have negotiation level of English and German
