Description of the job

The Volunteer for International Experience (VIE) program is an international program sponsored by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Employment, open to Airbus to offer young professionals the opportunity to have valuable paid work experience abroad in a technical or business function.

We are looking for highly motivated graduates aged 18 to 28 years, who are citizens of the European Union (all E.U. nationals, plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein). Candidates meeting these criteria and interested in a VIE, please register before your 28th birthday on the website www.civiweb.com. For Airbus in Hamburg within the department Capability Operations we are looking for a digital native, enthusiast for Flight Physics - VIE - Engineer for Capabilities (m/f)

Start: November 2018
Duration: 12 months

The Flight Physics Capabilities group aims at being the world-class leader in providing disruptive and/or fit-for-purpose digital solutions for flight physics applications.Through our solutions we continuously contribute to the design, development and through-life support of highly competitive and innovative aircrafts. By understanding and integrating the transverse needs of the overall aircraft physics we focus on those projects that are most valuable for Airbus. By bringing together our diverse competencies and knowledge, we deliver complete flight physics capabilities. And by building fully integrated multidisciplinary virtual models of the physical aircraft, we facilitate rapid business transformation, at the heart of the digital transformation the whole company has engaged in.

You will contribute to the generic services product stream that ranges from today's in-house scientific computing environment, based on Linux operating system associated with high performance computing means, to the creation of the relevant data pipelines to the company data lake, Skywise, enabling the concepts of digital aircraft, twin and threads and the vision of Flight Physics as a Service. Depending on the skills you bring in you will be given the opportunity to work on operations of our existing environments or the definition and coding of the next concrete steps towards our vision. The skills you won't bring in will be available within the team and you will be expected to be an active transmitting agent in turn.

Required skills

You offer:

·  Engineering, Informatics or similar Degree
·  Collaboration through cloud based collaboration tools and services (Slack, Mattermost)
·  Service oriented architecture, micro services and cloud services (AWS, containers, RESTful services, API gateways…)
·  Knowledge capturing/sharing using wikis for instance
·  Continuous integration processes and DevOps for software
·  Programming experience within Python, Java, Eclipse (Rich Client Platform, Modeling Framework)
·  Operating systems: Linux and Windows
·  Business intelligence Tools: NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, QlikSense for instance)
·  English: negotiation Level; German, French or Spanish are a plus
