Description of the job

A vacancy for a Technical Writer (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Manching. The successful applicant will join “TASSD6 Technical Publication Combat GE”. We are looking for 2 candidates.

Tasks & accountabilities

Are you keen to be involved in aircraft technology and IT and do you have practical experience of aircraft, ideally in the avionics field? Do you have knowledge of technical documentation as a creator or user and enjoy being able to prepare complex technical connections in a structured manner (SGML/XML) and providing user rights? Are you inquisitive and flexible enough to use your skills confidently for a wide variety of weapon systems? Then perhaps you are the right person for our Technical Information and Data (TID) team.

Thereby, your main tasks will include:

·  Preparing technical documentation taking into account the respective weapon systems and the national customer requirements
·  Harmonising the configuration status and ensuring the data conformity with the S1000D and the data consistency with other logistic products through interdisciplinary coordination with other specialist departments
·  Preparing, maintaining and conceptually developing the IETP
·  Ensuring the contractually agreed deliveries of the documentation including verification and the necessary coordination
·  Assessing engineering documents (e.g. STO, TA, SB, VSB, etc.) concerning effects on the technical documentation

Other additional tasks will include:

·  Collaborating on the design and further development of the respective national TID processes
·  Providing support and advice to customers on all topics regarding technical documentation
·  Collaborating on TID projects in the context of export campaigns and new projects (next generation weapon system, UAV, etc.)
·  Implementing special topics by the customer in the field of technical documentation
·  Identifying and implementing process improvement (boost competitiveness)
·  Identifying and implementing additional/extended TID topics to support the growth strategy of Airbus Services

Required skills

·  Technical Apprenticeship in the area of Mechanical Engineering/Avionics or similar
·  Practical aircraft experience, ideally in avionics
·  Experience in the application/preparation of documentation according to S1000D
·  Additional knowledge of ASD specifications would be a plus
·  Project and weapon system knowledge (TOR, P-3C, A400M, C-160)
·  Project management experience and interdisciplinary way of thinking and acting
·  Proficiency with specific SGML/XML tools and databases such as Epic

Editor, CSDB

·  Advanced PC/MS Office knowledge to create queries and evaluations (e.g. ACCESS/EXCEL)
·  Strong commitment and team spirit are absolutely necessary
·  High degree of flexibility and ability to familiarise yourself with changing tasks
·  Customer-oriented (internally/externally)
·  Language skills: English, Technical English
·  German fluent
