A vacancy for a System Engineer – Mission Support Systems (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Manching. The successful applicant will join “Fighters MPS Solutions”.

We are developing and supporting Mission Support Systems for our flying platforms Tornado and Eurofighter at the Airbus-sites in Manching/Germany and Getafe/Spain.

Our Mission Support Systems (MSS) comprise the preparation of aircraft missions including route and mission planning, provide interfaces to the aircrafts and support the analysis of the flown mission. The key challenge includes the execution of all operational requirements of our diverse Customer base while considering the technical capabilities and constraints of our aircrafts. Our Customers expect high performance IT systems and state-of-the-art software applications that make use of the technical capabilities of our aircrafts and allow a safe operation.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

·  Take-over of dedicated system engineering tasks throughout the life cycle of our development projects, which includes system concept definition, system design, requirements engineering, system test & qualification
·  You will be responsible for the scope and quality of the assigned tasks considering all aspects like feasibility, reusability, system optimization, maintainability, safety, technical performance, interface design, risks and opportunities
·  Ensure transfer of contracted capabilities and Customer requirements into system and product requirements
·  Focus on Customer satisfaction and ensure full compliance with valid rules and regulations
·  Support to and participate in Customer meetings and workshops
·  Lead the integration and qualification activities within the project
·  Actively support the continuous improvements of our products, projects and processes
·  Contribute to risk and opportunity management by identifying respective risks and opportunities
·  Foster collaboration within our project team and with involved stakeholders – internal and external

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  Engineering Degree / Master in Engineering / System Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent
·  Profound working experience as System / Software Engineer (preferable in Aeronautics or Defence sector) or equivalent experience
·  Profound knowledge in developing avionic and/or mission support software (civil / military applications) or equivalent systems
·  Good knowledge of Airbus development processes and/or development standards
·  Experience in requirements management, agile development and /or continuous integration are of advantage
·  Negotiation level in English is a must, Good knowledge of German would be a plus
