Description of the job

Are you looking for a master theis project? Would you like to discover the work of a Artificial Quality Assistant? Then apply now! We look forward to you joining us at the Mission Support Systems Development department.

Location: Manching
Start: 01.05.2017
Duration: 6 Months

The related department develops Mission Support Systems for our flying platforms Eurofighter, Tornado, A400M and MRTT and is located on our Airbus sites in Manching/Germany, Friedrichshafen/Germany and Getafe/Spain.
Mission Support Systems cover the preparation of the missions to be flown incl. Mission planning & rehearsal as well as the post-flight mission analysis & the de-briefing for the air crews.

Developing such mission support systems, involves phrasing the system's desired requirements and limitations. System decomposition and a progressive refinement of the system design are tools to confine complexity and savvy a product's layout and behavior. This procedure typically results in a multitude of connected descriptive artefacts, such as system requirement specifications, detailed design documentation, and system test specifications.
In Airbus, we are deliberate about our quality standards, and when developing systems, we put procedures in place, to ensure consistency of the above mentioned artefacts. However, this is mostly a manual and often time-consuming task, incompatible with today's fast and digitally enhanced innovation cycles.

Desired profile

Tasks & accountabilities

By means of this thesis, currently available technologies and approaches to algorithmically improve and complement our manual efforts in ensuring our quality standards shall be analyzed. This assistant should inspect development artifacts and reveal inconsistencies within and among them. A prototype shall be developed, borrowing practices from Advanced Analytics and Big Data, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science, to demonstrate the usefulness and applicability of such an artificial quality assistant.
