Tasks & accountabilities

Many different disciplines are involved in the design phase of a satellite. To harmonize the communication between all those disciplines, Airbus defined a hierarchical structure containing databases and processes. All information is exchanged using strictly defined interfaces and processes. One of the involved disciplines is the area of harness engineering, using a dedicated database application is used.

In the frame of an internship of 3-6 months, the interfaces of the used database application must be defined, implemented and verified, using real project data. Prototype implementations need to be checked and modified when found necessary. This task will be performed in close collaboration with the involved disciplines. The implementation shall be done in the scripting language VBA (Visual Basic for Application), but shall also be translated or newly implemented in C#.

The department in which this internship will be allocated is responsible for the engineering and the verification of electrical systems of satellites for earth observation, navigation and science. The department supports all satellite projects in Friedrichshafen. This support includes the fields of RF communications, electromagnetic cleanliness, electrical power supply and data processing. It also provides a broad band of services in the field of analysis and test.
