Description of the job

Are you looking for an internship? Would you like to discover the work of an engineer? Then apply now! We look forward to you joining us as an intern (m/f) in the department “Navigation Products“ (35 hours/week, flexi-time).

Location: Ottobrunn (Munich)
Start: spring 2018
Duration: 5-7 months
Afterwards there is the possibility for writing a final thesis, upon agreement with the department.

You will be integrated in the activities for the ongoing deployment and exploitation of Galileo, the European satellite navigation system, and contribute on elaboration of system performance concepts and verification. You will join the Airbus Navigation Department being with more than 60 engineers and almost 20 years of experience one of the leading expert groups in Europe for the development and implementation of the European satellite navigation systems EGNOS and Galileo.

Tasks & accountabilities

In your daily activities you can expect:

·  Work in an integrated team on the ongoing development and verification of Galileo, the European satellite navigation system
·  Support the assessment of new navigation services and algorithms at user level in close cooperation with the navigation system team
·  Development of a software tool for determination of Galileo Open Service Navigation Message Authentication following Signal-in-Space Specification based on the TESLA protocol (Timed Efficient Stream Loss-Tolerant Authentication)
·  Integration in assessment environment to evaluate multiple configuration options (different hash functions, Message Authentication Codes and lengths, key size, key delay times) and parameter settings.
·  Demonstration and experimentations during Galileo life broadcast testing with trade-off analyses for different implementation options
·  Get an inside in the development of large systems
·  The activity can be carried into a final thesis work

Required skills

What are we looking for?

·  Enrolled student within Engineering, such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or similar
·  Detailed experience with hash functions and crypto algorithms
·  Experience in programming with Matlab, Python or C on Linux and the basic software design processes
·  Experience in rapid coding by applying an efficient development process by maximum utilization of development tools such as development environments, version control systems, debugging, testing, and documentation.
·  Ambition to work in an international environment
·  Interest to experiment with new and innovative ideas
·  English and German: good skills
