Description of the job

A vacancy for a GNSS Signal Engineer for SoL (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Ottobrunn.

The successful applicant will join “TSEIG4 – Navigation Products”.

Compensation level: Compensation Level: EG10/EG11, if job requirements are met // Published until: 30.03.2018

What can you expect?

With more than 60 engineers and almost 20 years of experience, the Airbus Navigation Department is one of the leading expert groups in Europe for the development and implementation of the European satellite navigation systems EGNOS and Galileo.

Your task and responsibilities:

·  Support the deployment and evolution of the Galileo system and the evolution of the EGNOS system on navigation signal related aspects
·  Support the signal engineering activities related to the use of Galileo for Aviation (SoL) applications, in particular through
·  Identification and characterization of Feared Events related to the Galileo signal-in-space
·  Identification of System improvements for H-ARAIM needs
·  Characterization and assessment of Evil Waveform through ICAO model tuning
·  IFMEA/FMECA processes and derivation of recommendations for system improvements
·  Interactions with the segments contractors
·  Preparation of inputs for Standardization Bodies (e.g. RTCA/EUROCAE)
·  Contribute to new ideas and applications related to satellite navigation on navigation signal related aspects
·  Perform autonomous analysis of complex technical relations and apply to requested tasks
·  Support the definition and development of new tools for signal performance analysis
·  Operate tools and support the upgrade of tools for signal performance analysis
·  Define, plan, conduct and evaluate laboratory experiments to support trade-off-analysis, interpretation of measurement data evaluation results etc.
·  Support system engineering activities related to SIS engineering, for instance maintenance of SISICD requirements in DOORS; maintenance of verification control documentation
·  Presentation of the achieved results in front of national and international customers, industrial partners, technical meetings, symposia and conferences.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  You are educated to a Master's degree degree in Navigation, Electrical Engineering, Communication Techniques, Telecommunications, Signal Processing, Physics or equivalent
·  You have a deep understanding of GNSS signal generation and ground monitoring data processing
·  You have a deep understanding of GNSS receiver processing and receiver integrity algorithms
·  You have profound knowledge on digital signal processing (CDMA signals, numeric simulations & analysis), encoding techniques and channel models
·  You have already demonstrated the ability to analyze complex technical problems and define innovative solutions
·  You are highly skilled at deductive reasoning.
·  You are well skilled and experience in rapid and clean engineering software generation and usage (MATLAB and/or C/C++)
·  You do understand systems engineering processes with requirements flow and review gates
·  You have shown your intercultural competence as well as the ability to work in cross-functional teams and with international customer (e.g. ESA, EC)
·  You have a high degree of initiative, commitment and self-motivation
·  You have a customer-oriented and solution-oriented way of working
·  You are fluent in English, German is an asset
