You will write your final thesis in the department Space Equipment – VHDL Engineering Germany

Tasks & accountabilities

You will write your final thesis in the Engineering/Design & Development department which specialises in the development of On-board FPGA/ASIC logic and processor solutions for satellite subsystems and on-board scientific instruments. In this scope, for a project related to a new reconfigurable processing array architecture (HPDP – high performance data processor) a streaming test interface has to be implemented for this computer architecture and tested in hardware. Test Software for the new computer architecture and for the test system has to be generated.

Your role will involve the following exciting tasks:

o Get familiarised with the new computer architecture and with the streaming interface concept
o Implement the streaming interface for the test system in VHDL
o Generate test software for the HPDP computer architecture and the test system
o Debug and execute the interface tests on the HPDP hardware.
o Execute performance tests
o Documentation of all the evaluation, implementation, various analysis and test results

Required skills

You offer:

o You are an enrolled student (m/f) within Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering or similar field of study
o You have gained experience in tools like FPGA Design Tools, Modelsim
o You are proficient in the Programming Languages VHDL, C, C++
o You are experienced and excited by new processor platforms and data streaming architectures
o Languages: English is mandatory; French or German would be an asset
o You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently
