You will write your final thesis in the department Space Equipment - VHDL Engineering Germany

Tasks & accountabilities

You will write your final thesis in the Engineering/Design & Development department which specialises in the development of On-board FPGA/ASIC logic and processor solutions for satellite subsystems and on-board scientific instruments. In this scope, for a project related to a new reconfigurable processing array architecture (HPDP - high performance data processor) several software benchmarks have to implemented on this computer architecture and measured in hardware. The HPDP processor chip contains the reconfigurable processing array as well as a classical processor for sequential code parts.

Your role will involve the following exciting tasks:

o Evaluate the HPDP processor architecture for the required benchmarks

·  Signal processing such as FIR, FFT
·  I/O performance

o Partition the benchmarks in its sequential and parallel parts
o Implement the benchmarks in C and NML (native mapping language – a software dataflow description language) to achieve best performance
o Debug and execute the benchmarks on the HPDP hardware
o Documentation of all the evaluation, implementation, various analysis and test results

Required skills

You offer:

o You are an enrolled student (m/f) within Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering or similar field of study
o You have gained experience in tools like SW Design Tools, Matlab/Simulink
o You are used to Programming Language C, C++
o You are experienced and excited by new processor architecture and image processing algorithms
o Languages: English is mandatory; French or German would be an asset
o You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently
