Location: Donauwörth
Start: Autumn 2018
Duration: 6 months

The position offers a final year thesis in the area of CFRP manufacturing processes. The thesis will be all about the development of a manufacturing method to create dry fibre preforms for the next generation main hinge. The Thesis applies a systematic method and starts with the analysis of the status quo. This is especially true for manufacturing methods to create a 3D fibre architecture and to activate the binder system.

Desired profile

Tasks & accountabilities

On the Basis of the status analysis and a given design solution the thesis develops the necessary process elements via simulation and workshop trials.
Additional to that the thesis will develop suitable tools for the forming of the fibres as well as for the required trimming operations. Finally the thesis will combine the process elements to a process chain and verifies the effectiveness of the method by estimation of the manufacturing costs.

Required skills

You offer:

·  Enrolled student (m/f) within Engineering/Avionics or similar field of study
·  CATIA V5 (part design, assembly design, generative shape design)
·  Finite element method (FEM)
·  Product data administration/management (PDM)
·  Systematic development method
·  German / English: advanced

You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently.
