Purpose

Manages the pattern creation process for the respective category assigned including innovative and complex silhouettes in collaboration with Creation Center teams (Design, Marketing, Brand Operations), Sourcing and T1. Trains and consults product development teams and T1 on pattern creation process.

Key Accountabilities

· Leads and drives the Basic Pattern selection process, and understand future business needs to determine future basic pattern requirements
· Develop basic and model patterns, drive the pattern creation of fully graded technically innovative basic and fit critical model patterns in cooperation with X-functional partners based on market requirements; maintains the information in the product creation system and ensures that new patterns are wear tested as needed
· In collaboration with all global pattern teams consolidates basic pattern across all BUs, ensures aligned needs of all CC and is a contact for all basic pattern directions and application usage for assigned category
· Evaluates, creates and implements standard grading rules to ensure consistency in fit and contributes actively in terms of fit/principle pattern guidelines
· Understands and considers relationship between pattern/material usage/yields during pattern creation as it relates to margins
· Consults and trains Marketing, Design, Product Developer on pattern and fit updates and issue resolution
· Monitors performance, trains and consults on pattern creation and grading for area of responsibility
· Develops training plans and manuals for the global pattern and Product Development teams. (i.e. how to measure manual)
· Mentors new hires (Pattern Makers / Product Developer) in pattern making / fit
· Works on an ongoing basis on new solutions to reach creative pattern goals, by using new methods and systems and/or new constructions
· Where applicable creates virtual prototypes to increase speed and efficiency of the product creation process
· Manages the testing of new patterns and garment construction in cooperation with the sample shop if applicable
· Taking on Product Development tasks in addition upon request

Knowledge, Capabilities and Experience

· Advanced knowledge in pattern creation and grading with the ability to provide effective and cost efficient pattern solutions and an understanding of apparel construction, material construction and properties related to fit
· Ability to interpret and evaluate designs on model level in regards to pattern execution/engineering
· Consulting and training skills
· Strong team player/communicator with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects under multiple deadlines
· Ability to work with diverse groups, motivate or mentor others and a proven skill at problem solving and innovation
· Effective written and verbal communication skills
· Advanced skills in Gerber or similar CAD programs
· Advanced knowledge in V-Stitcher or similar 3D programs
· Fluent in English (written and spoken)
· Advanced IT skills (Illustrator, MS Office)
· Ability to travel, domestic or international, as required

Qualifications

· Technical college/fashion school training in pattern making / grading, “Meisterbrief” or equivalent education
· Minimum of 3-5 years related work experience in garment industry in comparable role
