We are seeking a vibrant, charismatic Food and Beverage Service Manager to join our management team to help lead and develop our awesome Food and Beverage team. You will help manage our restaurant, room service and conferencing operations in the hotel while maximising profitability and exceeding guest expectations. Working closely with the Food and Beverage Manager to ensure the continued success of the restaurant, help maintain and put policies and procedures in place and to ensure continued development and training of the team. 

This role is hands on, you will need to lead by example and ensure there is management support and presence visible on the floor during key times throughout the day. Novotel New Plymouth Taranaki is a new build hotel which opened late 2015, we have 85 rooms, a restaurant and conference facilities for up to 250 delegates.

Reporting directly to the Food and Beverage Manager, our ideal candidate will be a confident and enthusiastic person that has a minimum 1 year previous supervisory experience in a Food and Beverage setting, backed up with various dining service styles and is ready to take on the next step in their career. This is an outstanding opportunity for the right person to help enable the Food and Beverage operations of the hotel to be recognised as a top food destination.

Duties:

-         Ensure consistent outstanding service and experience for all our guests

-         Assist in leading our team of Food and Beverage Attendants and continuously driving the team to maintain and provide high standards of service

-         Oversee the Food and Beverage operations in the absence of the Food and Beverage Manager

-         Handle large conference groups of up to 250 delegates

-         Opening and closing of the restaurant

-         Stock take and ordering

Work Experience

Essentials

-         Passion for delivering genuine and effective service

-         Excellent people skills

-         Ability to think outside the box

-         Experience dealing with and managing guest requests, difficult situation, complaints, and feedback

-         Minimum 1-year experience in an Food and Beverage supervisory role

-         Confidence in managing team performance and development

-         Flexibility to work on a rotational roster, including weekends and public holidays

-         High level barista skills

-         Extensive knowledge of wines, spirits, and beers (including pouring and serving)

-         Cocktail making skills

-         Experienced in buffet and a la carte serving style

-         Experience using Micros POS or a similar POS system

-         A current GM Certificate
