JOB DESCRIPTION:

Primary Function/Primary Goals/Objectives:

  • Requires very flexible individuals who are self-starters and quickly adapt
  • Position has an assigned shift; however, on occasion will be assigned to another shift for designated periods
  • Relieve routine tasks associated with the Material Control Operator, process general stores requests, operate the floor scrubber and receive UPS and FedEx shipments
  • Flexibility in job assignments and customer service oriented

Major Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to use a forklift regularly and for prolonged periods to perform job
  • Must know duties of these positions – Receiving Clerk, Material Control Operator, General Stores, Label Hold Cage Coordinator and others so they can perform as needed
  • Operate floor scrubber
  • Timely and accurate paper and computer work, such as receiving clerk duties and others as assigned
  • Update and troubleshoot data in MITS system, such as bag movements, line supply locators, etc.
  • Process and receive FedEx and UPS (or other delivery services) shipments
  • Participate in cost reduction, process improvements and other job related activities necessary to maintain and improve department competitiveness in the industry
  • Switch trailers in the yard and between plant and off-site warehouses
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager, supervisor or crew leader

Education:

High School Diploma/GED required

Background:

  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritional products a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations and procedures a plus, but not required
  • Ability to use a computer to perform the job duties is required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a CDL (commercial drivers license)
  • Must have ability to work in a high-pressure, fast paced and constantly changing customer service driven environment
  • Must be able to safely operate a forklift on a regular and prolonged basis during the performance of job duties

Accountability/Scope/Budget:

Material control is responsible for the flow of materials in the plant, from receiving raw ingredients to the storage of finished products and everything in between. No direct budget responsibilities.
