Summary:

Evaluate exceptions working cross-functionally to determine the scope, risk, and business impact. Leverages critical thinking, problem solving, and interpersonal skills to author quality reports and lead cross functional teams to ensure the safety, efficacy, and overall quality of Abbott Diagnostic products.

Core Job Responsibilities

Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.

General – Responsible for managing deliverables associated with exceptions and achievement of timeliness goals associated with their respective milestones. Provides compliant solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Interacts constructively with employees; managers and cross-functional peers. Leads cross-functional teams to achieve consensus for deliverables associated with quality issues. May lead a project with a limited scope; but usually a contributor on broader projects. Provides guidance to other Professionals and Technicians.

Quality System Compliance - Maintains vigilance to ensure adherence to our Quality Policy as well as site, Division, and Corporate Quality system procedures through evaluation of exceptions and by promptly reporting noncompliance issues to management. Maintains awareness of standards that regulate our industry.

Quality Engineering - Coordinates quality decisions between different cross-functional groups. Develops an awareness for processes governing validation, design control, documentation and change control. Team member helping and interfacing with supplier liaisons to deliver product meeting our quality requirements.

Risk Management - Applies basic Risk Management principles to evaluate exceptions. Participates in the development or modification of Risk Management files.

Design Control / Documentation & Change Control - Identifies areas for process improvement. Provides supporting information for change including reasons and justifications.

Position Accountability / Scope

Receives general direction and exercises considerable discretion to own work detail. Elevates constraints and risks and recommends possible solutions. Ensures compliant documentation; carrying out tasks related to area of responsibility with management oversight. Decisions may have short and long term impact.

Minimum Education

Apprenticeship or Bachelor's degree in Life Science; Engineering; or closely related discipline is required OR relevant combination of education or experience.

Minimum Experience

At least 3 years work experience in Quality or related field experience; Less experience may be appropriate with advanced degree. Demonstrates understanding of how their function supports the business. Demonstrates technical and business competencies that drive results and continuous improvement.
