Tasks:

ABB is seeking an Engineering Co-op for its Power Grids Grid Automation group located in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Assists in designing engineering solutions including schematics, drawings, calculations, and IED configurations according to specification. Participates in design reviews and design verification, and modifies design as necessary.
• A positive attitude, and be eager to learn through experience and training – we are a very knowledgeable and experienced team and applicant will be immersed in an environment with many opportunities to learn.
• Follows work plans and cost estimates for area of responsibility and ensures quality deliverables on time and at targeted cost. May provide support for production of proposals and presentations.
• Uses standard engineering processes and tools applicable for assigned tasks. Actively drive to improve efficiency and participate in our continuous improvement culture. Support creation of scripts/macros to further automate our processes, tools, and documentation.
• Highly organized, detail oriented, and comfortable taking direction from engineering team members. Ability to functioning independently, as well as in a team environment.
• Must have excellent communications and writing skills as well as tact and professionalism working with others.

Requirements:

Basic qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in a B.S. degree program at an accredited U.S. based institution

Preferred qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent undergraduate engineering four year degree program.
• Must have completed at least two years of the four year degree program.
• 3.0+ GPA
• Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical software
• Prior coursework or experience using Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC),
Remote Terminal Units (RTU), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems, or Cyber Security a plus.
• Local Candidates Preferred
