Job Summary :

The person hired for this position with the FMRD Coating MT group will provide manufacturing and commercialization support for key development programs with our partner divisions.  This person will work closely with key division product development, lab, research and business team members to develop scalable manufacturing processes and products to meet partner divisions’ objectives.  In addition, technology development and capital project support will be a significant requirement in this role.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

·  Leading process development and process validation for new products.  Develop cost estimates and manufacturing paths.  Translate product design into internal or external manufacturing operations.
·  Leading technology advancement initiatives in the areas of coating method, web handling, curing, drying, machine design, etc. for deployment on 3M assets. 
·  Working with cross functional team members to support new product development and technology initiatives.
·  Identifying, justifying and implementing new process technologies for new and existing products to improve process capability, improve the value stream, and reduce total cost.
·  Willing to travel to support manufacturing and business needs.
·  Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

·  Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution
·  Minimum of three (3) years combined manufacturing, manufacturing technology, plant and/or pilot plant experience within a private, public, government or military environment

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering from an accredited university
·  Experience with mechanical operations (coating, laminating, mixing, drying) and chemical processing (polymers, emulsions, solvent and water based coatings)
·  Successful record of executing results through project management skills
·  Experience with capital projects and equipment commissioning
·  Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced, dynamic business and manufacturing environment
·  Strong interpersonal, organizational, communications skills and ability to work with cross functional teams

Location:   Hutchinson, MN

Travel:   May include up to 15% domestic/international travel
